Apple Picking (Part 1)

On a fabulous fall day, Daddy, Mommy and Anna went apple picking in Indiana. What a fun fun day! We ate all of the apples we could and brought many more home with us--apple cake, yum! apple sauce, extra yum! (More pictures from Daddy's much fancier camera will follow when we have a little more time to download them!)

Thomas Night at the Library!

If reading Thomas books with other Thomas fans at the library wasn't enough, Anna also got to build edible track (that's a graham cracker, icing, licorice and pretzels sticks for those of you who would like to try it at home). The library ROCKS!

Catching up--THOMAS!!!!

After waiting all summer (she got the tickets from Mommy and Daddy as a birthday present), Anna finally traveled to the "Island of Sodor" (actually the Illinois Railroad Museum) to meet and ride on Thomas the Tank Engine. Given Anna's love of all things Thomas, the day was as exciting as any 2 year old could imagine--complete with Thomas songs, model trains, Sir Topham Hatt, and the little blue engine himself. The weather was perfect and Mommy and Daddy just loved watching their little engineer's excitement!

Catching up--the Notebaert (again), because who can resist?

Mid-September finds Anna and Mommy back at the Notebaert nature museum, Anna's favorite place in Chicago! We were on our way to the zoo, but had to walk past the nature museum to get there and just couldn't pass it up! So, instead of the animals, we hung out with the butterflies instead!

Catching up--Down on the Farm

It turns out that Anna would have been a great country girl! In early September, Mommy and Anna spent the morning at Wagner Farm--just about 20 minutes outside the city. Anna had a blast lifting hay bales and feeding the "animals". We also got to see real animals up close and personal and watch corn grow (Anna's favorite part!). Who knew you could get such a taste of the country so close to Chicago?

Catching up--Our Labor Day trip to the 'Burgh

So, Mommy's been slacking on her blogging duties and has fallen way behind! Apologies to all of the Anna fans out there. :)

Anna and Mommy went to the 'Burgh to celebrate Labor Day and see/march in Anna's first Labor Day parade. In addition to a wet, but very fun parade (where Mommy met VP Joe Biden!), we paked the weekend with lots of other fun. We took a trip to see Granny and Poppy (Anna's Great-Grandparents), where Anna spent the day entertaining them and playing in Granny's birdbath. We also headed down to Oakland to meet up with Kristie one of Mommy's dear friends from college and her little girl Kenzie. Anna and Kenzie were fast friends! Anna also got to hang out at Storybook Forest and Idlewild park with all four of her grandparents--a fun dat for everyone! No wonder Anna loves going to Pittsburgh so much!
