It was 70 degrees a week ago!

And Anna and Mama took advantage of the fabulous weather to take another trip to the zoo. Now that the temperatures have fallen, Mama may have to think of some indoor fieldtrips...

GOooooobama! (Or How Anna became a little Democrat)

Living in Chicago was extra special this election day because it meant that we would be close to Anna's favorite candidate "'bama" who would be giving a (Victory!) speech in Grant Park. Anna had spent the last few months saying "Gobama" and Mama and Dada knew it would be a historic night. Soooooo....we decided we couldn't miss it. We got our tickets, a hotel room and, after packing and voting, tried to get Anna down for an extra nap. The evening was a special one and one that none of us will ever forget. (Since that night Anna has been saying "'Bama. Watch. Fun." and calling him her "friend" whenever she sees his picture). So, here's what Family D-O'C did on election night...

The morning after--guess what!? Obama's still the President-elect! Hooray. The world is a better place!

The happy family on their way back to the hotel. People were singing and dancing in the streets. Anna loved it!
Chicago in all it's Obama glory!
Dada and Anna have Hope!
Obama got elected AND raisins!? Anna couldn't be happier.
Obama won! Obama won! Obama won! (Hmmmmm wonder if the roaring crowd woke Anna up?)
The crowd at Grant Park.
A little rally fun while we wait for the numbers to come in. Anna is sleeping because she already knows how this election is going to turn out.
Arriving at Grant Park for the big 'bama rally.
The crowd on the way to Grant Park.

Pre-partying at the hotel.

Big Girl Chair

When your parents are graduate students, reading is a FUNdemental part of your life. So, what better way for Anna to enjoy it than in her very own purple reading chair?

Happy Halloween (OR--I want to be a Ladybug, again!)

A few weeks before Halloween, Anna found last year's ladybug costume. She insisted on wearing it and lo and behold it still fit! Mama couldn't say no, so Anna was once again a lovely ladybug. Since she's a "big girl" this year, she got to wear makeup! :)

Giddy-up!

With a little help from Dada, Anna enjoyed a pony ride at the pumpkin farm!

Pumpkin Pickin'

Fall isn't complete without a trip to Didier Farms to pick pumpkins (2 years in a row makes a family tradition, right?) Although we had to dress like we were going to pick Christmas trees, we had a lot of fun! Anna loved the pumpkins, piggies and chickens and has been talking about them since we left!

Pumpkin Painting at Piefest

If hanging out with friends at an apple pie festival wasn't fun enough, there were also pumpkins to paint! Although we started out with a little paint in Anna's eye, once she got the hang of it, it was big fun!
